Film and TV news: ‘One Battle After Another’ and ‘The Studio’ top Actor Awards nominations

The newly named Actor Awards (previously SAG Awards) nominations for 2026 were announced on Wednesday.

SAG-AFTRA has chosen to heap the most praise for One Battle After Another, with a record seven nominations.

The Studio leads nominations for television, and Film News Blitz’s Dan Lawrence is here to break it all down.

‘One Battle After Another’ is enjoying a strong awards run

Fresh from winning Best Picture at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, One Battle After Another enjoyed a total of seven nominations for SAG-AFTRA’s Actor Awards.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor all received nominations, while the film was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture (a key indicator of Oscar success) and Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.

Sinners was close behind One Battle After Another, with five nominations, including the ensemble nod, stunt recognition and nominations for Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton and Wunmi Mosaku.

The acting ensemble nominees

The acting ensemble nominees voted by SAG are more often than not tipped to be in the running for Best Picture glory at the Oscars, and One Battle After Another and Sinners are joined in this category by Frankenstein, Hamnet and Marty Supreme.

Last year, Conclave won the outstanding cast prize, but ultimately lost out on Best Picture at the Oscars to Anora

Who is nominated in the acting categories?

The acting categories are also a key indicator for the Academy Awards, and One Battle After Another’s DiCaprio is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role alongside Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Jordan (Sinners) and Jesse Plemons (Bugonia).

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role will be contested by Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Emma Stone (Bugonia) and One Battle After Another’s Infiniti.

Sinners Caton and One Battle After Another’s Penn and Del Toro will duke it out in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role category, alongside Critics Choice winner Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein) and Paul Mescal (Hamnet).

Taylor and Mosaku are nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for One Battle After Another and Sinners, and they’re joined in this category by Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme), Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good) and Amy Madigan (Weapons).

‘The Studio’ leads TV Actor Awards nominations with five

Five nominations across the nine television categories put Apple’s The Studio in pole position, and Seth Rogen’s satire on Hollywood has proven to be an awards darling thus far.

One of those nominations is in the cast ensemble category for comedies, alongside Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks and 2025 winner Only Murders in the Building.

In drama, the top prize will go to one of The Diplomat, Landman, The Pitt, Severance and The White Lotus.

When are the Actor Awards?

SAG-AFTRA’s Actor Awards take place on 1 March at 8 pm ET (1 am GMT on 2 March), airing exclusively on Netflix.

Netflix has three nominations in the film categories for the 32nd Annual Actor Awards, and leads nominations for a studio in the television categories with 15.
