James Bond betting tips: Callum Turner is the new bookies' favourite to be 007

A new actor, Callum Turner, has become the bookmakers’ favourite to be the next James Bond.

Turner has surpassed the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill in the race to be the next Agent 007.

Film News Blitz’s Dan Lawrence takes a look at the latest James Bond betting odds.

Who is Callum Turner?

Turner, 35, is in cinemas right now alongside Elisabeth Olsen and Miles Teller in the romantic comedy, Eternity.

The Briton has starred in the likes of Apple’s Masters of the Air and alongside Eddie Redmayne in the Fantastic Beasts films, which were produced by James Bond 26 co-chief David Heyman.

He has the air of the modern British gentleman, and could quite easily be the man wrought from Ian Fleming's original James Bond novels if the super spy were to jump off the page.

Turner fits Amazon’s role for a younger Bond, and Amazon would likely benefit from his cross-cultural relevance due to his engagement to pop superstar Dua Lipa.

In recent days, he’s shot forward to be the bookies’ favourite to follow in Daniel Craig’s footsteps.

BEST ODDS: 5/4 (Labrokes, Coral)

Who is still in the running to be James Bond?

Turner has eked ahead of long-time fan favourite castings Taylor-Johnson (4/1 with multiple bettors) and Cavill (6/1 with multiple bettors) in the race to be Bond.

However, both of these respected actors challenging Turner are in their 40s and could well be too well-known to fit director Denis Villeneuve’s desire for a “fresh face” Bond (via Deadline).

Sitting behind them in the bookies’ list is James Nelson-Joyce, who stars in Steven Knight’s Victorian-era boxing drama series A Thousand Blows.

Knight, coincidentally, is writing the screenplay that Villeneuve will direct for James Bond 26.
