Netflix news: Extended-look at Liam Hemsworth's Geralt in 'The Witcher'
Netflix unveiled an extended look at Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia on Sunday.
The streaming giant published a short video in tandem with a release date announcement for Season 4 of The Witcher: October 30.

Big shoes to fill
Hemsworth has to win over a legion of The Witcher fans who collectively cried out in anguish when it was revealed Henry Cavill would step down from his role as Geralt at the end of season three.
Creative differences with the show’s writers led to Cavill’s exit from what many consider one of his finest performances.
Cavill held not only The Witcher novels, but the video games in high regard, actively chased the role of Geralt, and his love for the character was easy to see on screen.
From physicality to voice and mannerisms, Cavill was a fine Geralt.
Time will tell whether Hemsworth can live up to the gauntlet laid down by Cavill.
On Sunday, fans were treated to a glimpse of the new Geralt, taking on a malicious wraith in a fraught confrontation.
The jury’s out on whether that clip satisfied fans missing Cavill.
Who else is new in the cast?
Alongside Hemsworth, there’s a host of new names joining the cast for season four of The Witcher.
Laurence Fishburne joins as barber-surgeon Regis, Sharlto Copley steps into the shoes of bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy has been cast as Skellen, Emhyr’s court advisor and high-ranking spy, and Danny Woodburn is Zoltan, the fan-favourite dwarf from the books and games.
What is the premise of season four of ‘The Witcher’?
After Geralt was viciously beaten by the villainous Vilgefortz at the end of season three, his story now sees him fighting his way back to his allies and loved-ones: Ciri, and Yennefer.
The iconic trio each has a solo path to forge in season four, as they desperately try to navigate their way back to one another.
When will ‘The Witcher’ end?
Season four is the beginning of the end for The Witcher.
Netflix has already announced that season five will be the show’s end, calling time on the adaptations of the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books.
“It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Netflix when shooting commenced on season four.
Season four and five are being shot back-to-back, and Hissrich said, “We’re thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowski’s books to an epic and satisfying conclusion.
“It wouldn’t be our show if we didn’t push our family of characters to their absolute limit — stay tuned to see how the story ends.”
