Marvel news: Channing Tatum says fans ‘aren’t ready’ for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most highly anticipated films of the decade, and with it set to be released in December 2026, Channing Tatum discussed what fans can expect.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight whilst on the red carpet representing his new comedy Roofman, Tatum confirmed that filming for Doomsday has officially wrapped, and gave some exciting insight into what is to come.

Film News Blitz’s Joe Matthews reports.

Fans aren’t ready

Directed by the Russo brothers (Joe and Anthony), Avengers: Doomsday will see several families of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought onto screen in one go, with characters such as The Fantastic Four, the X-Men and of course the Avengers themselves set to return to screen.

Tatum, who plays Gambit, a rogue mutant from the X-Men universe who has the power to charge random items (often playing cards) with kinetic energy, discussed the enormity of the project.

He said: “They set up a bar for themselves every movie. And they beat it, every single movie.

“And I can tell you this, as I was reading it, I was like, ‘no, how are they going to do this? I don't understand how they're going to do this.;

“You're just not ready. Like, I don't know how to describe it to you.

“It's gonna make your brains ooze out of your ears.”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ times 50!

With the MCU prizing itself on its ability to bring comic book lore to life, Tatum spoke to his feelings as a comic book fan himself.

He said: “Like in the way I knew that when Blade walks on screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, people were just going to actually lose their physical minds, and it’s (Avengers: Doomsday) that maybe times 50!

“I can’t divulge anything but as a comic fan, you’re just not ready.”

The American actor is set to appear alongside a plethora of the series’ most revered names, such as Chris Hemsworth, who returns to his role of Thor, the Fantastic Four of Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn, as well as Robert Downey Jr in his new role as Doctor Doom.

There will also be appearances from the Black Panther films, such as Letitia Wright, Shang-Chi’s Simu Liu, and X-Men’s Patrick Stewart and James Marsden, amongst others.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come under plenty of scrutiny over the last few years, but Avengers: Doomsday could be the project to alleviate the pressure and reinstate its status as a powerhouse in the superhero genre.

Joe Matthews

Joe Matthews may be graduating in Sports Journalism, but he absolutely loves a good (or sometimes not so good) movie. From ‘are you not entertained?’ to ‘here’s Johnny!’, corny film references are his forté.
