Emmys 2025 news: ‘Adolescence’ and ‘The Studio’ shine, Cristin Milioti’s moment arrives

On September 14, 2025, the 77th annual Emmy Awards were held in Los Angeles, celebrating a standout year in television.

Major winners included The Studio, Adolescence, and Cristin Milioti, who earned a widely praised victory.

Film News Blitz’s Aidan Leo reflects on the results of the Emmys.

The night’s biggest winners: The Studio and Adolescence

The Studio took home four major awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Seth Rogen led the charge, winning Best Actor, as well as Directing and Writing for a Comedy Series.

Meanwhile, Adolescence dominated the Limited or Anthology categories.

It won Best Limited or Anthology Series, along with a remarkable sweep of acting awards: Lead Actor, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress.

Fifteen-year-old Owen Cooper made history as the youngest male Emmy winner ever, earning Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series.

Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty were also recognized for their standout performances, each securing well-deserved wins.

Graham added to his accolades by sharing the Writing award for a Limited or Anthology Series with co-writer Jack Thorne.

In total, The Studio and Adolescence collected 13 and eight awards respectively across the Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys.

Milioti triumphs for The Penguin

A tearful but ecstatic Cristin Milioti earned a well-deserved Emmy for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series, recognized for her performance as Sofia Falcone in The Penguin.

She prevailed over a stacked field, beating out screen legends Cate Blanchett and Michelle Williams, rising star Meghann Fahy, and the ever-compelling Rashida Jones.

While this was The Penguin’s only Primetime Emmy win, it had a strong showing at the Creative Arts Emmys, picking up eight additional awards.

Other notable winners

The Pitt scored big with five awards, including Best Drama Series and Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Noah Wyle.

Katherine LaNasa also won Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance.

Severance earned two major acting honors: Britt Lower won Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Tramell Tillman took home Supporting Actor.

Aidan Leo is a passionate, expressive and bold writer who although makes use of unnecessarily extensive vocabulary at times, he more than makes up for it with his enthusiasm and love for cinema.

Whether it be the intensity and social commentary of classics like A Few Good Men and Fight Club, or the joyous and slightly controversial hilarity of Step Brothers and The Heat, he loves them all.

His other passions include sports, photography/videography, food, fashion, music, and anime.

As Matthew McConaughey’s David says in Dazed and Confused, “The older you do get, the more rules they’re gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin’ man. L-I-V-I-N.” A quote Aidan prides himself on and one he looks to, to continue following his dreams and passions.
