Netflix Tudum 2025: The unveiling of exciting future film and TV news
The Netflix Tudum live event took place on Saturday, May 31 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles - revealing a series of big news stories.
From Squid Game to Stranger Things, Netflix uncovered what is set to be an exciting near-future for film and TV fans worldwide.
Here to summarise the nittiest and grittiest of it all is Film News Blitz’s Joe Matthews.
A return to the Upside Down
Stranger Things fans have been waiting for this news for years following the release of season four, but season five has finally been given a release date - or should we say, release dates?
Taking the same approach as they did in 2022, Netflix will release the ultimate season in segments, with the first four episodes coming on November 26, followed by another three on Christmas Day, with the finale going live on New Year’s Eve.
Netflix has also confirmed that a 25-page document of plot points and lore mythology given to them by the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, has not yet had all of its details spilled.
Therefore, this last season is sure to answer the biggest questions arising from the supernatural world of the Upside Down.

Happy Gilmore’s latest tee time
Adam Sandler is set to return to screens as the fan favourite Happy Gilmore, in Happy Gilmore 2.

The announcement came with a lively Q&A with several members of the cast, including Lavell Crawford, Blake Clark and Jon Lovitz, amongst others, before fans were treated to the debut of the highly anticipated official trailer.
Benoit Blanc returns
The last decades’ favourite film detective is set to take on another case, with Daniel Craig returning as the Knives Out detective Benoit Blanc for a third installment.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery reels Benoit back in, and the star-studded cast made an appearance on stage alongside writer-director Rian Johnson.
Daniel Craig himself, alongside Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Cailee Spaeny and Daryl McCormack were in attendance as the premiere date was set for December 12, 2025 for Netflix audiences across the globe.
Squid Game Season 3 trailer
The opening act of the night was the announcement of the Squid Game season three trailer’s release.
It followed on from electric dance performers from the infamous pink guards from the show, before cast members such as Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun took to the stage to break the news of the new trailer.

They were subsequently joined on stage by cast members Inaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar, who gave fans an exclusive look at the show’s future.

Wednesday teaser
The final event of the show gave fans a six-minute sneak peak at the first episode of Wednesday Season 2, which will premiere on Netflix on August 6 and September 3.
Wednesday Addams is set to return to our screens.
The sneak peek, aptly titled 'Here We Woe Again,’ shows us the titular psychic terrorising classmates with the grizzly details of the Kansas City Scalper, who she aims to track down and kill.
A successful event
Netflix Tudum 2025 certainly gave us a lot to think about - but more importantly, us cinema and TV fanatics have a whole lot of exciting new releases to look forward to.
